This is Bode and his date, Addie, holding hands as we walked into the stadium.
Bode is wearing the traditional "garter" that all boys going to homecoming wear (their date makes it for them). And Addie is wearing her "mum" (which would typically be made by the boy who asked her to the dance). These were both made by Addie's grandma who has a business making mums and garters. We found out a lot about the rules for "mums": only seniors get to wear all white mums. Also, only seniors get to decorate and wear the overalls like you see below.
Very strange ritual, but kind of fun to see. Here's an example of a real mum - they are huge! Girls wear them around their necks all day and they literally drag to the ground.
Texans sure are silly, but we love it here!

Who would have thought??? The overalls - quite creative! The mum decoration dragging all the way down to the floor. Talk about attracting attention! lol Bode looks cute with his date.
