Bode Glenn Bright

We apologize it has taken so long for us to get our blog updated. Between being new parents and not having internet access at our house, it has made it difficult.

Bode was born on March 10th at 1:21am. Alison started having contractions the afternoon of the 8th, but nothing progressed very quickly until her water broke the afternoon of the 9th. The labor went relatively smoothly - well, at least as soon as the epidural was finally given. No woman should ever attempt giving birth without one!

When Bode was born, he was quickly swept up to the Newborn ICU for several reasons: he has pooped in the amniotic fluid creating and swallowed quite a bit of it during labor, Alison's water had broke at home causing risk for infection, Alison had a high fever during labor (another risk of infection), and his white blood cell count was quite high indicating he may have an infection. He spent a week in the NICU receiving a couple of different antibiotics just to be safe.

Bode came home on March 16th. As wonderful as the nurses were in the NICU, we were really glad to be able to come home to our own bed and start the hard task of parenting.

Thank you to everyone who gave us support during that time: family, friends, the ward, etc.

We are so glad that Bode is doing well. We didn't hear anything and so we were worried. Glad everything is great now!
